PROS at the Firehouse (AKA PROS Greene) has gotten a little more GREEN this summer. Our former outdoor smoking area is now our relaxing garden area. Many people at PROS have had a hand in creating our refreshed outdoor space.
Special thanks to Scott Thomas, Clinical Rehab Div. Director, and his wife. They provided the pre-cut wood and Scott then installed two sturdy raised beds with a little help from one of our cleaning crew members. Several PROS participants and staff helped transfer dirt from our old rotten beds while others started seedlings at PROS. We also want to thank Donna Peterson, of the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master
Gardener program, who donated many seedlings and helped us plan-out our garden beds. Also, thanks to Lowe’s for providing buckets for additional planting space. We now have a PROS gardening group that has taken on the responsibility for the garden under the tutelage of Don Webber, Peer Specialist and Container Gardener. The garden is a great opportunity for people to have a positive, relaxing space at PROS.
